I have to say that I heard an interesting angle on this one - just tonight, though. Linda Evans, who used to play in the TV series "Dynasty" was referring to her decade-long relationship with musician Yanni finally ending. She put it this way, "sometimes we just have to accept that things have run their course and have come to an end." Well, something like that, anyway. But that gets the basic idea across. So - maybe instead of us all striving so dilligently to "find" a so-called "long term relationship," we should just accept things as they come to us - or, if it's the case - as they LEAVE us in this life - including interpersonal relationships.

Admittedly, this is a totally new approach for me. It's a totally new way of looking at friendship and relationships than I EVER have in life.

Do most people NOT feel the way that I always have?  That is to say: that friendships should be entered into - and viewed as - something which will have permanence to them? Or especially a LOVE relationship - that it will be permanent? Or am I just romantic and backward - am I just thinking about the old "til death do us part" - even though I'm not the church-going type?
