Canadian 
Maple Walnut Pie

Al's Canadian Maple Walnut Pie
 

ingredients:

2 eggs
1/2 cup, plus 2 Tbs. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1/2 cup pure (or artificial - yuck !) maple syrup
2 Tbs. butter, melted
3/4 cup chopped walnuts
plain, unbaked 10-inch pie shell, plus top crust  *
 

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.

In a small bowl, beat eggs lightly. Stir in sugar, vanilla, syrup, butter, and nuts.

Spread mixture evenly in bottom pie crust. Cover with top crust.

Bake for 10 minutes

Reduce heat to 350 degrees F. Bake 30 minutes longer.
 

Makes one 10-inch pie.

*  For a deep-dish pie, double all ingredients except the maple syrup.
     Use 3/4 cup maple syrup.
